Train and bus stations at Pompeii
Pompei Scavi – Villa dei Misteri Station is conveniently located in Pompeii, just a short walk from the Porta Marina main entrance.
It is served by the Circumvesuviana train line, which connects Naples and Sorrento and runs from 5.30 am to 9 pm every 30 minutes. There is no direct train from Rome to Pompeii.
SITA bus service offers regular services from Naples to Pompeii, and the service is from 6 am to 8 pm. There are two bus stops—Villa dei Misteri near the Porta Marina entrance and the Piazza Anfiteatro bus stop.
Entrances
Pompeii has three main entrances—Porta Marina, Piazza Anfiteatro, and Piazza Esedra.
Pompeii also has other entrances, such as Porta Nocera, Porta Stabia, and Porta Vesuvio, but they are secondary.
Restroom and water fountain
All three Pompeii main entrances have restroom facilities.
Although there are restrooms inside the ruins, it’s better to use the restroom at the entrance. Sometimes, the inside restroom gets closed due to excavations and renovations.
You can fill your water bottles at the fountain as you must walk around the sites and ensure you stay hydrated, especially if you visit Pompeii in the afternoon.
Restaurants
Pompeii has two restaurants inside—Chora and AutoGrill. Both serve many food items and are reasonably priced.
Restaurants and cafes are also available outside the Pompeii archeological site. These eateries feature outdoor seating, allowing visitors to soak in the vibrant atmosphere.

Shops
Pompeii has shops outside the main entrances, especially close to the Piazza Anfiteatro gate.
If you forget your essentials like sunscreen, hat, water bottles, etc., before you start the visit, you can buy them at the shops in Pompeii.
The shops accept VISA and Mastercard, though carrying some cash in euros is better.
Ticket window
All three main entrances have ticket booths where you can book your ticket. Owing to the long queue at these entrances, you must wait anywhere from 20 minutes to 2 hours.

Baby changing rooms
Pompeii offers three convenient baby-changing areas in Regions III, IV, and VII to ensure a comfortable visit for families.
Cloakroom
Cloakroom facilities are available at all the main entrances (Piazza Anfiteatro, Piazza Esedra, and the Porta Marina) in Pompeii.
