By Bus

To visit Pompeii from Positano by bus, start at Positano’s main bus stop. Take a SITA bus to Amalfi, a scenic 45-minute ride along the stunning coastline. From Amalfi’s Piazza Flavio Gioia, catch another SITA bus to Salerno, which takes about 75 minutes and offers more picturesque views.

Once in Salerno, you can either take a direct bus or a regional train to Pompeii, a journey of about 40 minutes. The bus or train will bring you close to the archaeological site’s main entrance. Follow the signs to Porta Marina for a memorable exploration of ancient ruins.

Consider taking a direct bus from Positano to Sorrento for a more straightforward option. From Sorrento, you can easily catch the Circumvesuviana train to Pompeii. This route simplifies the journey and reduces the number of transfers needed.

By Train

Although there is no direct train from Positano to Pompeii, you can easily reach your destination by combining a bus and train journey.

Start by taking a SITA bus from Positano to Sorrento, enjoying the breathtaking coastal views along the way.

Once in Sorrento, board the Circumvesuviana train, which will take you directly to the Pompeii Scavi—Villa dei Misteri station, right near the entrance to the archaeological site.

After about 25 kilometers, proceed to the Pompeii exit (Pompei Ovest or Pompei Est). The main entrance to the archeological site is a short walk from several handy parking lots nearby, including those at Porta Marina.
